The beloved score is everywhere during the holiday season. There is something purely magical about Peter Tchaikovsky's music. The Nutcracker is ripe with magic, wonder, and illusion. One of the reasons we keep working on this Nutcracker, 28 years later, is because at every performance someone in the audience is seeing it for the first time. Often, but not always, it is someone quite young and it's someone who believes in magic. The ballet is pretty close to magic and The Nutcracker is the perfect place to start.

As we join together to enjoy another production of The Nutcracker, I am reminded of all the Nutcrackers previous. Each production has found a way to present this beloved story in a way that is honest to the original tale, yet finds new elements to keep the narrative distinct and fresh. As a dance collaborative we have put our unique stamp on this tale. A tale that touches the heart of each very young dancer who dreams of dancing the part of Clara, the Snow Queen, and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
