Field sketching with Kristin link

Field sketching is a wonderful medium for sharpening observation skills and build- ing a visual vocabulary. In this workshop, teaching artist Kristin Link (McCarthy, AK) will introduce materials and techniques for working quickly in the field as well as exercises for drawing accurately from life. Students can explore life sketching tex-tures and winter landscapes up close and far away.

This is a virtual class that will be conducted in a small group over Zoom. Open to adult artists ages 16 and up.

The supply kit pick up date with be Thursday, December 5 from 10:00 am to 04:00 pm at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium. Please wear a mask when entering the auditorium.

Expressive Drawing & Color with Bonnie Dillard

2 pm via Zoom

Get familiar with water-soluble oil pastels in this exploration of mark-making, simplified shape and expressive color. Participants will take inspiration from the work of contemporary expressionist artists and learn how the use of color can animate our ideas, convey mood, and open new possibilities for our own work.

This is a repeat of the class offered in October.

 

All levels welcome and all supplies provided.

Watercolor Driftwood: Painting Realistic Layers with Angela Toci

Work alongside Kodiak watercolorist Angela Toci to advance your watercolor skills and develop realistic textures and details while painting driftwood. You will learn transparencies, how to build a color chart, and texturing techniques that enable you to create depth and details. This class is designed to deepen your enjoyment of watercolor and help you feel successful developing layers in your paintings.
